The Sower went out to sow His seeds (Luke 8:5 )
Luke 8: 11 - 15
“Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God. Those by the wayside are the ones who hear; then the devil comes and takes away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved. But the ones on the rock are those who, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, who believe for a while and in time of temptation fall away. Now the ones that fell among thorns are those who, when they have heard, go out and are choked with cares, riches, and pleasures of life, and bring no fruit to maturity. But the ones that fell on the good ground are those who, having heard the word with a noble and good heart, keep it and bear fruit with patience.”
In our daily life at work and/or school, we have golden opportunities to see the reality of ourselves. God is never content with the superficial relationship we have with Him. He sends us to the fields of work and/or school, and even our homes, to show us our pride, lack of patience, lack of love, anger and other weaknesses, which make up the rocks and thorns of the soil of our hearts. God is trying to dig deep to prepare space for His pure seed by cleaning our hearts and making them thorns- and rocks-free. All we need to do is be enlightened of his act and patient for his work.
Identify the rocks and/or thorns that hinder the work of God in your life.
Dear heavenly Father,
Great is Your work in my life. You truly seek a Father-child relationship. As much as I need and long for such a great relationship, I fail to commit to it. I go back to find my old thorns and rocks. Allow me to look up to You and fix my eyes on You, for You alone can make my land good ground for Your seed to spring up and yield a crop a hundredfold. Amen.
