Update on the Health of His Holiness Pope Shenouda III
We would like to thank the Lord for the success of H.H. Pope Shenouda's surgery. His Holiness is in great health and will continue to recover from the operation in Cleveland, Ohio, where he will undergo post-surgical treatment and rehabilitation.
On the morning of Tuesday, June 10th, His Holiness Pope Shenouda III slipped and fell in his private residence in the Patriarchate in Cairo. He was rushed to the Salam hospital in Mohandeseen for immediate care. X-rays revealed a fracture to the left femur with no indicated fractures to the pelvis. According to the initial consultation, it was recommended that supportive metal be used to stabilize the fracture through minor surgery with local anesthesia. The surgery is to take place in the hospital in Cleveland, Ohio under the care of his personal doctors.
Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak provided His Holiness with the use of his presidential jet so that he could be flown for treatment in Cleveland, Ohio as swiftly as possible. His Holiness suffers from back and kidney problems and has made repeated trips abroad for medical tests or treatment; most recently in Cleveland in May.
Let us pray for our beloved and honored father a full and speedy recovery, a safe return from his trip, and to keep his leadership for the church for many years and peaceful times.
