Fr. Anthony Messeh

Fr. Anthony Messeh has been serving as a priest in St. Mark Coptic Orthodox Church since 2001. However, his ministry to the church goes back much further than that. Before his ordination to the priesthood, Fr. Anthony served in the youth ministry for many years with the middle school, high school, and college groups. He is now married to Marianne and is the proud father of Michael Timothy and Elizabeth Theresa. At this point in time, there is still no evidence to the rumor that Michael was named after a very famous basketball player who wore the #23; it is merely a coincidence.

Fr. Anthony earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Management Information Systems (MIS) from the University of Virginia in 1998. He was ordained as a priest by His Holiness Pope Shenouda III on November 14, 2001, on the 30th anniversary of His Holiness' ordination as the Patriarch of the See of St. Mark and the Church of Alexandria.

Fr. Anthony now leads the youth and young adult ministry at St. Mark Coptic Orthodox Church. He loves serving youth and reaching out to the community around us. In addition, he is also a certified marriage counselor. When Fr. Anthony is not praying Liturgies, delivering powerful sermons, visiting the poor and the sick and those imprisoned, or comforting those in distress, he can be found on the basketball court at St. Mark Coptic Orthodox Church where he has developed quite a mean jump shot. He can't go between his legs anymore, but he can still take it to the rim and is deceptively quick (although, you could say he might get the benefit of a few calls, but we're not bitter).

We pray that God would continue to bless his ministry and give him wisdom and guidance to shepherd His flock in peace.

Fr. Bishoy Andrawes

Fr. Bishoy Andrawes has been serving the congregation at St. Mark Coptic Orthodox Church of Washington, DC, since 1997. He was born and raised in Egypt and graduated from the University of Alexandria with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering (don't worry, Fr. Bishoy is not into technology or anything). He was ordained priest by His Holiness Pope Shenouda III on November 14, 1995. He served at Virgin Mary and St. Athanasius Coptic Orthodox Church in Mississauga, Canada, for less than two years before coming to St. Mark's. Before moving to Canada, he lived in Alexandria and served as a deacon at St. Mary & St. John the Beloved Coptic Orthodox Church in Janakleese, Alexandria.

Fr. Bishoy is truly a father to us all as someone we can speak with about any problem or topic. As a certified marriage counselor, he has a gift of dealing with couples and family issues. When he is not serving those in need, outreaching the lost, praying a liturgy, or delivering a Bible study, you might find him in the electronics department at Best Buy!

Fr. Bishoy is married to Irinie and is the proud father of Meshach and Daniel. Young Meshach has already taken after Fr. Bishoy by scheduling his feeding and play times in his palm pilot!

We pray that God would continue to bless the service of Fr. Bishoy and give him wisdom and guidance to serve God's people.
