Provides assistance with activities of daily living and personal care, such as bathing, dressing, feeding, toileting, oral hygiene, nail care, transferring and walking for both males and females.Takes vital signs, and provides a quality therapeutic recreation program for a specialized population(s) of individuals, 18 and older, with a variety of diagnoses and multiple disabilities in the Adult Day Health Care Center (ADHC). Assists recreation therapist with planning, organizing and providing therapeutic recreational and social activities. Assists with the nutrition program by maintaining statistics, ordering meals, setting up and serving food.
Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to a high school diploma or a G.E.D.
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:
Must achieve certification in CPR and First Aid within one year of employment. Must be able to achieve Limited Food Handlers Certification within one year of employment.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check, a Child Protective Services Registry, and a TB test to the satisfaction of the employer.
Experience working with older adults with dementia; developing and implementing a variety of activities for older adults with cognitive and physical impairments. Familiarity with Microsoft Office.
Employee is required to walk, stand for long periods of time (1 to 2 hours), bend, sit, kneel, reach, climb stairs and participate in recreational therapy, read and write in complete sentences in English. Ability to assist with client transfers from sitting to standing and standing to sitting positions, and lift up to 50 pounds. Ability to operate keyboard-driven equipment.
